UT Apple Store

The UT Campus Computer Store is an Apple Authorized Reseller and Repair shop. We offer nearly all of Apple's hardware and software products at special student discount pricing and our repair staff is qualified to handle most issues which might arise.

The prices we offer to students and falculty in-store are typically the same as you would find on Apple's own Education website. However, from time to time we have special promotions and deals which can only be found in-house.

The machines which we have in-house are preconfigured to Apple's default specifications. We are able to upgrade RAM and Hard Drives in-house, however doing so means the replaced components are no longer covered by AppleCare, and rather covered by the manufacturer. We use Kingston RAM which comes with a Lifetime Warranty, and typically either Western Digital, Hitachi or Seagate Hard Drives.

Customization

If you wish to have a machine custom configured, either with a larger HD covered by AppleCare or an increase screen size/resolution or processor speed, please follow these instructions:

• Click on the link above which best fits you, i.e. if you're buying it with your own money click on Personal, and if your department is paying for it click on Departments.
• Configure the machine as you wish, then print out the configuration! Apple's website does not save these configurations so we are not able to look them up later if we do not have a hard copy.
• Do not wait around for long before bringing in the machine specifications you wish to order. Apple has a typical machine update time of around 6-10 months from the announcement of each line, and there are often incremental price changes and updates inbetween, so if you wait a month or so before bringing in a configuration there is a possibility that it is no longer offered or has a different price, etc.

Ordering

We only accept personal web orders from students and faculty who are off-campus. If you are local, please come by the store to place an order. If you would like to custom order a Mac, simply add the printout of the custom configuration to the list of items you return to us in the below instruction sets:

Setup

We also offer a setup service for Apple computers purchased either through our store or through UT's Apple Web Store, which includes:

Basic Software Setup - $75

• Create user account with generic password
• Include instructions on changing passwords
• Installation of all system updates present at time of setup
• Installation of Microsoft Office or other basic software.
• A 24-CD Wallet with basic information paper inserts
• 7-foot Ethernet cable

Advanced Software Setup - $125
Includes all of the Basic Setup plus:

• Boot Camp, Parallels or VMWare Fusion Setup
• Installation of Windows and all applicable drivers
• Installation of any Windows Software purchased
• Anti Spyware and Anti Virus setup

*Note*
Neither setup includes the installation of Adobe Software, and we also do not set your machine up to access UT's wireless network. To do that, the student must log onto NetReg and register their machine on the network. It is recommended that if you get a Boot Camp or VM setup, you register the machine when using the Mac OSX side, as you will avoid having to install all of the additional software OIT recommends for Windows-based Machines.

Repairs

The UT Computer Store is an Apple Authorized Service Provider, meaning that we have fully-qualified staff on hand to take care of your Apple computer's hardware and software issues whether it is under warranty or not.
